In times of crisis, it is only normal to experience negative emotions, which are increasingly difficult to handle. Children are particularly vulnerable to such emotions, as they are called to confront unprecedented experiences, are often challenging to comprehend and can significantly affect a child.
Thus, the Youth Board of Cyprus organised a Facebook Live discussion to deal with the impact of the pandemic on children’s mental and emotional health and suggest ways for parents to enhance positive communication with their children.
The Facebook Live discussion took place on Wednesday, 20 January 2021, with more than 300 attendees and 8.500 video viewers. The Executive Director of the Youth Board of Cyprus was the host of the live discussion, and two experienced psychologists participated, one of them from the Youth Board’s psychological services “Mikri Arktos”. Both experts shared professional advice to viewers, who had the chance to submit their questions and get answers from the psychologists.
Information about the live as well as the video of the discussion are available here.
Following the Facebook Live discussion, a series of four focused workshops took place to empower parents to further develop the necessary skills for supporting their children more effectively during this difficult period.
