We are pleased to invite you to our upcoming online ZOOM event on April 28th at 19:00 CY time, titled “The Way Forward: A white book of best practices on youth participation in Cyprus peace process.”
This is the fourth of a series of discussions between Cypriot youth across the island.
Young people and women from both communities of Cyprus, are actively working to support Cyprus peace processes and are calling for a space in the peace talks, but continue to be unrepresented and excluded from participating in crucial decisions that will directly affect their future. Join us as we are planning to discuss where we are at, why is important to increase inclusion of women and youth in the peace processes and how we can achieve that.
Pembe Mentesh: Pembe has worked on a variety of peacebuilding initiatives with a focus on media, gender, youth, and communications. As a campaigner and supporter of women’s rights, Pembe is an active contributor to civil society – currently, she is the Co-President of Hands Across the Divide.
Dr. Sophia Papastavrou: Sophia has worked with the World Bank, UN, OSCE, and World Vision Middle East and Eastern Europe Region. She currently focuses on Global Affairs Canada grants and Canada’s feminist foreign policy as the Gender Technical Specialist on the Fragile & Humanitarian Team, Programs & Policy at World Vision Canada.
The event is co-organised by the Bi-communal Network of Cypriot Youth, Famagusta Avenue Garage, Youth Information Centers of Youth Board of Cyprus, Agros Youth Club, “To Steki” Cultural Club, GUKAD and European Union of Cypriot Students.
The event is supported by UNFICYP.
We look forward to having you with us!
